Bernard and Sheila Cheese (nee Robinson).

They moved to Bardfield End Green in 1953.  Bernard was best known for coloured lithographs, and Sheila designed posters and illustrations. Later Sheila moved into Bardfield with her two small children, and was responsible for the four prints of Bardfield scenes used on the front cover of the Bardfield Times. See the photograph of some of the artists in the Fry Gallery. She moved to Saffron Walden in 1968.

Michael Rothenstein.

Rothenstein moved into to Chapel Cottage, next to the Aldridges, but soon moved into in Ethel House, High Street, with Duffy Fitzgerald. He built the studio which can still be seen adjacent to the house. He became expert in the art of colour print, and developed this technique so as to be able to cover large mural areas in schools and public buildings. He wrote a book entitled "Looking at painting" in 1947, and also published many articles. The couple were in Bardfield from 1941 - 1956.
