Great Bardfield Parish Council are what is known as the third tier of local government and we are mainly interested in matters that concern Great Bardfield and the surrounding area. To do this we have to work with the other two tiers of local government that serve this area, the District and the County. Essex County council - looks after Social Services, Highways, Schools, the Fire Brigade and the Police
Braintree District Council - looks after Planning, Environment, Licensing, Council Housing
Although Great Bardfield is in the Braintree District, it is very close to the border with Uttlesford. Little Bardfield, Hawkspur Green and Oxen End are all in Uttlesford District, so you may need to speak to them.
