2 October 2026 – Michael

Jaafar Jackson makes his film debut as his uncle, Michael Jackson, in this much-anticipated biographical drama directed by Antoine Fuqua. Charting Michael's extraordinary rise from child star with the Jackson 5 to global music icon, the film explores both the dazzling performances and the personal challenges behind one of the world's most influential entertainers. Also starring Colman Domingo and Miles Teller.

Night and Day

Set in London in 1910 brilliant and headstrong Katharine Hilbery resists her parents' plans for marriage, determined instead to pursue her passion for astronomy. When her controlling father forces her into an engagement with family friend William, Katharine's carefully guarded independence is threatened. Timothy Spall leads an outstanding British cast, including Jack Whitehall, in this heartwarming comedy-drama about family, friendship and making the most of life's unexpected turns.

The Return

Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche reunite on screen in this powerful retelling of the final chapters of Homer's Odyssey. After twenty years away at war, Odysseus returns home to Ithaca to find his kingdom transformed and his family under threat. A moving, beautifully filmed drama exploring love, loyalty and the lasting scars of conflict.

Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg returns to the science fiction genre with this thought-provoking thriller starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo. As evidence emerges that humanity is not alone in the universe, a race begins to uncover the truth behind decades of secrecy, leading to revelations that could change the world forever.

 

  • Meets in the Town Hall on the first Friday of the month from October to July inclusive
  • Doors open at 7.30pm, with the film starting at 8.00pm
  • Refreshments available from 7.30pm
  • Free to members (£40 for annual membership) or £8 on the door for non-members

About our community cinema club

Whether you're a lifelong film fan or just enjoy the occasional night out, our Cinema Club is here for everyone. We offer a lively and varied programme of films - from classics to recent releases, comedies to thrillers - so there’s always something to enjoy, whatever your taste.

Details of upcoming screenings are published on this page and also in the Bardfield Times, Community Facebook page and on posters around the village.

Annual membership costs £40 and runs from October to July. We also welcome newcomers or those who prefer to attend on a film-by-film basis - you can pay £8 on the door if that's your preference. Please contact Jackie Newton on 01371 810586 with any membership queries.

Refreshments are also available before each screening so come along and enjoy the films!

All the DVDs we've shown are available to rent for just £1 from the Community Information Point, conveniently located next to the Town Hall. Simply pop in, choose a film, and enjoy a relaxing evening in.
