The group was formed in 1992 after breaking away from the Women’s Institute as it was considered both expensive and less relevant to rural communities such as Great Bardfield.
Since the beginning of 2014 it is now our aim to open the membership to both Ladies and Gentlemen and of course visitors are always welcome. Meetings are held at 2.30 on the second Tuesday of the month in Great Bardfield Town Hall.
Member’s subscription is £22.00 per annum. Visitors - £3.00 per meeting.
Tea or coffee and biscuits are served following our talks and a raffle is held with proceeds given to our chosen charity. In 2018 the chosen charity was Farleigh Hospice; in 2019 it was the CREAMER fund and in 2020 it is Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
Added to our monthly talks, a summer outing and a theatre trip are organised, with an occasional bring and buy plant and book stalls. Details of our talks can be found in the Bardfield Times and posters displayed around the village.
Our year concludes with a Christmas lunch at a local hostelry.
We would very much like to increase our membership and extend a very warm welcome to everyone.
